Timecode and frames
Convert timecode to a frame count and back at the common frame rates. The calculator also shows the real clock time and how far it drifts from the timecode at fractional rates such as 23.976 and 29.97.
This answers the classic question of why an hour of 23.976 timecode is not an hour on the clock.
How to use it
- Frame rate: 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 48, 50, 59.94 or 60.
- Timecode (HH:MM:SS:FF): or enter a frame count and get the timecode.
Example
At 23.976 fps, 01:00:00:00 non-drop-frame timecode is 86,400 frames, which takes 1 hour and 3.6 seconds of real time.
Good to know
Non-drop-frame timecode counts 24 frames per second at 23.976, so the clock runs 0.1% longer than the timecode. Drop-frame timecode, used at 29.97, is not covered here.
